Natural Gas: The Future Premier Fuel of the World Economy
In 2000, in the now classic book The Color Of Oil,
we predicted that natural gas will increase its market share and, within
a few decades, it will overtake oil as the premier fuel of the world
economy. Massive new discoveries in many diverse regions of the world,
enhanced offshore transportation, fast-increasing demand in developing
countries headed by China, and the US shale “revolution”, all contribute
to this prediction.

On the large supplier side:
... Thanks to the production of shale gas reservoirs it has been projected that the U.S. will become a net exporter of natural gas. One of the side effects of the production of shale gas is the extremely low gas price in North America.
Export of natural gas from the United States and abundant transportation capability will, probably for the first time in history, create a true market for natural gas. One important consequence is natural gas price which now is resource-driven and not technology-driven. Like oil, the natural gas price is likely to unify and present a much more logical price rather than the huge variation currently in the market.
natural gas production by region
This graph from BP 2013 World Energy Outlook, shows the expected natural gas activity over the next 15 years in the US, EU, and China. China’s demand may look relatively small, compared to US activity. However, the rate of increase will be breakneck and will affect that country in many profound ways.
This energy future, with fully market-supported natural gas will dominate for decades to come and will provide economically affordable and abundant energy.

[SIDEBAR: Sorry to invite the insects to the picnic in the grass, but, the weather manipulations IE the weaponry of weather to 'change' the landscape, so to speak - think about the LNG in the U.S.A. and what this truly means - the TPP is about moving lots of stuff for the Chinese, too, interesting times.]
When the USA knows this to be true, NET EXPORTER NATURAL GAS [LNG], and then the warnings from DHS 'weather disasters', 'terrorism ongoing', and how to move the masses of people out of the way of the coming high tide of world supplier of LNG
