Jay Inslee was sworn in as governor of Washington on January 16, 2013.

Inslee was born in Seattle, Washington. He earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Washington and his juris doctor from Willamette University. Inslee served in the state House of Representatives and in 1992 was elected to Congress from Eastern Washington.

He later moved back to the Puget Sound area and was again elected to Congress in 1998 where he served until 2012. He co-wrote a book called “Apollo’s Fire: Igniting America’s Clean-Energy Economy.” Inslee and his wife Trudi have three sons.
