Question of Sanctions Against Syria 2012

There is no doubt, the president has his faults. There is a lot wrong with Syria, and even those who support Assad want change: Freedom of expression, being on everyone’s list, but surprisingly, not everyone has it as a priority. Education, health and employment opportunities occupy the minds of most people in Syria. Having the ability to say that something is wrong is less important than having the ability to put things right. If Syria had its problems in the past, the blame for the development and escalation of the crisis is placed squarely at the door of the UK, France and the US. Sanctions imposed by the US and EU are crippling this country, adding to the woes of a nation that already feels under siege and mis-understood by the rest of the world.

I am in the country on my fourth visit to Syria, and my second since the crisis began. From the many people I have spoken to and from my personal experiences, I believe that the sanctions are having the opposite effect of their intention. I have not met a single person who blames Assad for forcing sanctions to be imposed on their country. The idea of such finger-pointing is too ridiculous for words. For many here, this is just another example of unfair treatment from the US and their allies, which builds resentment and leads to further conflict.

US and UK media talk of restrictions on luxury goods. They ignore the true effect of sanctions. They wish to paint a picture of targeted impositions that are detrimental to Assad and the political regime, yet leave the Syrian people to carry on as normal.

A good friend of mine lost his job at the Ford car plant as a direct result of the sanctions. “Why don’t they just leave us alone?” he asked, referring to the US. It was as much a plea as it was a question.

Grow-up and realize World Earth is watching now and not trusting the blind faith that gets the human population stabbed in the back -majority- via a small minority of predatory criminally insane.  The US-ZioCons take bets on how the humans and mother earth are going rise and fall, YANKS the rug from underneath and watches the blood gushing from the slit throats.  Doesn't matter how the down gets down, ALL AROUND THE MULBERRY BUSH THE MONKEY CHASES THE WEASEL, Pop goes the little purse of antiquity too.  Nursery Rhymes a many taught the real US how to see as children the monsters everywhere.
